The good thing about ballet is, it really helps you forget your own personal woes. It doesn't leave any room in your mind for them, because it is an art of the mind as much as the body.
This position is called arabesque. I do not know what arabesque means in French, but it is the most famous ballet position. It is associated with the crescent moon, also an ancient symbol of knowledge and enlightenment.
